Today, much to my relief, I completed my third and final comprehensive exam, which means (if I passed it--I'm feeling pretty good about it though) that I'm ABD (all but dissertation--a sort of mock degree us grad students give ourselves to somehow recognize the almost-there point of PhD pursuit).
Unfortunately, my celebratory plans for the weekend, the ones Zorro told you all about in the last post, will be postponed because of a death in the family (not someone i was close to, but I am close to the son of the man who passed away and I want to be there to support him) and I'm leaving tomorrow morning for the funeral (though the kitties may still party with their dad while I'm gone, who knows).
Thanks everyone for their patience while I've been away so much working on my studies--hopefully soon I'll be able to be back on more regularly :)
Hello there!

4 bits of commenty goodness:
sorry to hear about the death in your family. At least you get to attend the funeral w/o a lot of other "things" hanging over your head...
Becca, I'm really happy to hear that you passed your comprehensive (I had no doubt that that would happen), but I'm very sorry about the death in your family. My sympathies to you and the family.
(Please don't worry about blogging, btw.)
I'm very sorry about the death in your family!
I'm very happy though about your comprehensive exam! Way to go!
Becca, congrats on your final. Sorry to hear your happiness is somewhat bittersweet with the death in the family.
